I'm Lindsay and am so grateful that you are here! I created sit and smile five years ago as an experiement. What would it be like to write a blog? Truthfully, it felt wierdly self-indulgent and still sometimes does. But more than anything, it has been a safe haven for my heart and soul. My blog is about truth, connection, community, laughter, humility, and a place to ponder all of the meaty, messy, meaningful, and sacred stuff.
I have written in journals my whole life and understand writing (and reading too) to be hugely therapeutic. Especially, during the dark, sad, and scary times. Writing has helped me cope with anxiety, depression, the transition to parenthood, and the intense grief of losing my parents. And I have learned what is personal is also collective. It feels good to write something that compels others to say, "Yes, me too and thank goodness, I'm not the only one!" We are all connected and share similar struggles and triumphs. It is far more interesting, much more fun, as well as better for our mental, emotional, and spirutal states to do this life business together. When we share honestly and openly, we not only help heal our wounds, but help others heal too.
As a self-diagnosed, "highly-sensitive person", spiritual seeker, wife, and mom of three and since completing my Masters degree in Transpersonal Psychology in 2015 from Sofia University, I have been coaching and facilitating women's circles. This new site is an expansion of the old one and a reflection of my current offerings as a coach and circle leader.
No matter what you are going through right now, there is always the opportunity for healing and growth. I am not an expert and by no means have it all figured out. Like you, I struggle. Sometimes I swear, am paralyzed with insecurities, and have acne. I make mistakes and then try again. I believe in the power of story, showing up, vulnerability as well as in the beauty of imperfection. From my personal experiences as a seeker and deep feeler, as well as my studies in spirituality, positive psychology, creative expression, mindfulness, and human growth and development, I believe I can help.
My approach to personal coaching as well as facilitating circles is to help you access the great wisdom you have within. I offer a fresh perspective as well a way to help you move in the direction of both accepting and creating the life you yearn to live. I will guide you to make choices born from love and keep reminding you every step of the way that there is more right with you than wrong. Living a vibrant life imbued with peace, joy, and meaning is available to us all.
